Laudato si’ Jubilee Project

horizont3000 will launch the Laudato Si’ Jubilee Project, the second major initiative under our Solar Pledge East Africa (SPEA) program. This three-year project celebrates the 10th anniversary of Pope Francis’ Laudato Si’ and responds to the urgent call for climate action in East Africa.

What will the project do?

  • Equip 14 Catholic educational institutions in Uganda and Kenya with reliable solar energy systems.
  • Reach 30 schools with environmental education and student-led Climate Action Plans, fostering a culture of sustainability.
  • Benefit 14,300 students directly and 30,000 community members indirectly, creating hubs for climate resilience and clean energy.

Why does it matter?
Northern Uganda and Turkana County face severe energy poverty and climate vulnerability. By combining renewable energy access with faith-driven environmental education, the project empowers schools as catalysts for change—improving learning conditions, safety, and community resilience.

Budget & Call for Support
The project requires €614,000 for solar infrastructure, training, and outreach. We are currently raising funds and seeking partners to make this vision a reality. Every contribution helps us bring light and hope to schools and communities.
