2025 is an important year for the Catholic Church as Laudato si', Pope Francis' second encyclical, celebrates its 10th anniversary. Solar Pledge East Africa (SPEA), a programme led by horizont3000, has always been guided by the principles of Laudato si': protecting our environment, reducing poverty and developing clean energy forms, among others. We are therefore launching the Laudato si' Jubilee Project to increase the effectiveness of the Solar Pledge East Africa programme and to raise awareness of Laudato si'.
Therefore, we are seeking strong partners who support the “10 years Laudato si’ Jubilee Project” which will be implemented over a period of 2 years. In the project, the installation of solar systems in a total of 10 schools, 5 operated by the Archdiocese of Gulu in Northern Uganda and 5 operated by the Diocese of Lodwar in Kenya. In addition to the installation of the systems, the project will focus on awareness-raising initiatives such as workshops on Laudato si' and climate action planning by students in their respective schools. A wide range of relevant stakeholders will be involved to increase the effectiveness of the project.
