The advisory is carried out in cooperation with our member organisation BSIN Feldkirch.

Developing the communication and campaign work of the Rural Pastoral Commission in Brazil and selected partner organisations in Europe. The field of activity includes the organisation of educational and campaign material, documentation in image and film, as well as image processing and film productions in connection with human rights violations and overexploitation of resources as well as articulation and networking with cooperation partners in Brazil and Europe.

Thomas Bauer is a trained boat builder. He switched to the social sector early on, attended the Catholic Social Academy in Vienna and completed a philosophy course in Rio de Janeiro. Since 1996, he has been working in the Rural Pastoral Commission in Brazil - as a consultant, photographer, filmmaker and storyteller.

• The advisor focuses on strengthening the communication and campaign work of the Rural Pastoral Commission in Brazil and selected partner organizations in Europe. The advisor supports the documentation of human rights violations and resource exploitation through image and film production, as well as the organization of educational and campaign materials. Additionally, the advisory facilitates articulation and networking with cooperation partners across Brazil and Europe to promote advocacy and awareness.
• The advisor provides image and film materials for various publications and educational resources for partner organizations. Additionally, the advisory supports the documentation of significant environmental and social conflicts, such as mining expansion in Sento Sé and Pindobaçu, agribusiness expansion along the São Francisco River, and the unique ecosystem of the Brejos region.
• Regular tasks include participatory planning and visual documentation of human rights violations, investigative journalism, media engagement, and the production of documentary films, reports, and educational materials. The advisory organizes public hearings with community representatives, prosecutors, and authorities to ensure legal protection and facilitates the collection of evidence for civil lawsuits. Continuous collaboration and consultation with CPT Bahia teams and regional coordinators strengthen strategic planning, implementation, and networking.
