Strengthening household agroecological production systems for sustainable food and nutrition security.
416.186 people in 6 communities in the districts of Nioro du Rip as indirect participants of which 4.390 people (1.301 women and 3.089 men) from rural households as a direct participants.
The central problem is the food insecurity of households in rural areas, which is mainly caused by the following factors: The decline in soil fertility and insufficient agricultural production of family farms; the incomes of rural households are insufficient to meet their additional food needs; the low appreciation of agricultural production; eating habits influenced by traditional beliefs that prohibit children and pregnant women from eating certain foods; the low resilience of communities to the effects of climate change; the difficult access of women and young people to production factors due to socio-cultural attitudes, their social status; their low participation in the management of public affairs and the migration of young people to other areas.
