Strengthening the emotional stability of children and youth in Ciudad Sandino, allowing for new forms of affective relationships in the family and its environment.
Directly involved are 300 vulnerable children, adolescents and young adults from Ciudad Sandino, in the department of Managua. Around 1.200 family members are indirectly involved.
In Nicaragua, 67% of the population is under 34 years of age, children and youth are among the most vulnerable groups and there are countless situations that violate their rights, which also leads to the deterioration of their emotional stability. To counteract this situation, children, adolescents and young adults need alternative places for relaxation, fun, reflection and to promote their artistic expression. This will be done by activities to recognise and control emotions, to find a way to deal with grief and to develop artistic, playful and cultural skills. In addition, love and respect for the elderly and children with disabilities, as well as ecological awareness will be promoted.
The (training) education centre CECIM has extensive experience in implementing social projects in the municipality of Ciudad Sandino in Managua. It works with people in precarious circumstances, uses participatory methods and works closely with various sectors of society.
