Goal

Strengthening the structures of Caritas Gulu, with focus on building partnerships and networks, mobilising resources, monitoring and strengthening the programme management.

Participants

Directly involved are 63 people (24 female and 39 male), indirectly involved are 22.929 people (14.759 female and 8.170 male).

Advisor

After training as a bank clerk, Heike Nesner studied social management in Germany and completed her Master of Arts in Development Studies at Uganda Martyrs University.

Goals

  • The advisory assignment focuses on strengthening the organizational and programme management structures of Caritas Gulu Archdiocese in Northern Uganda. The advisor supports the organization in building partnerships and networks, mobilizing resources, and enhancing programme monitoring and management to improve sustainability and impact. A key objective of the assignment is to diversify the income sources of Caritas Gulu by fostering closer cooperation with the Justice & Peace Department of the Archdiocese. Strengthened collaboration expands funding opportunities from current and potential donors and facilitates knowledge exchange.
  • The advisor engages with all employees of Caritas Gulu Archdiocese, providing direct support in institutional capacity-building. Regular activities include developing resource mobilization strategies, strengthening internal coordination, and supporting financial planning and donor engagement. The assignment also contributes to improving programme implementation by reinforcing monitoring and evaluation frameworks, ensuring that projects are effectively managed and aligned with Caritas Gulu’s mission.
