Sustainably improve the nutritional situation and dietary habits of rural households in Thiès, Fatick, Kaolack, Kaffrine, Kolda, Kédougou, and Ziguinchor – through fair, inclusive and climate‑resilient interventions that strengthen agroecological production, increase household incomes and promote sustainable resource management with gender equality integrated throughout.
Rural households in the seven target regions, with a particular focus on women involved in food production and household nutrition, as well as local farmer groups and community structures engaged in agriculture, nutrition and natural resource management.
Households face persistent food insecurity due to environmental degradation, climate change and socio‑economic inequalities. Low productivity stems from unsustainable practices, poor soil fertility and limited water access. Traditional gender norms restrict women’s land rights, finance and decision‑making, despite their central role in food systems. Limited nutrition knowledge further exacerbates malnutrition.
