Our yearly Knowledge Sharing Games

Learning and sharing is at the heart of our Knowledge Management Programme and the Experience Capitalisation Process forms its foundation. To incentivise the process, we have created the KNOWLYMPICS – our Knowledge Sharing Games!

The 8th KNOWLYMPICS had a special focus on on women's access to land & resources! 8 organisations from 6 different countries shared their valuable experiences.

This year, there were a wide variety of topics, ranging from enhancing women's land rights and ownership, to training peace ambassadors to reduce GBV and land conflicts, to promoting women's traditional knowledge to open firebreaks, thus strengthening their participation in community-driven land and resource management and climate adaptation.

We are very happy about the results of this year’s games and would like to thank all of the participants!

the knowlympics explained

The participating organisations shared their experiences and promoted a learning process within their organisations. Using our questionnaires to systematically document experiences, they trigger a process of reflection and answer questions such as what has worked, what hasn’t, and – most importantly – why. This is where learning begins and this is what we want to draw on.

By creating accessible one-page presentations of these questionnaires (Experiences 'At-a-Glance') we try to make knowledge palatable, motivating more people to engage with it.

After receiving a lot of feedback, this year we introduced specific qualifying criteria, on the basis of which we evaluated the submissions. They were ranked based on clarity, compelling nature, and implementation, as well as potential for replicability and adaptability. All participating organisation had a chance to submit adapted questionnaires after a first round of feedback, mostly done by our gender expert Maureen Obbayi.
