Leading by example: To underline and demonstrate our commitment to the clean energy transition, we successfully installed a 7000W hybrid solar system at the horizont3000 Regional Office East Africa. The solar system will not only provide stable, affordable and green electricity for our colleagues in the office, but will also demonstrate how such a system works to interested partners and visitors.
The whole office was excited when large packages arrived early morning of August 5th in the Regional Office in Kampala. It was soon clear what was inside: the long-awaited solar system that everyone had been talking about for the past few weeks.
The solar system is a hybrid setup, combining solar power with grid electricity to ensure a constant and reliable energy supply. The system harnesses solar energy during the day while seamlessly integrating with grid power. The result? A continuous energy flow that eliminates power disruptions, making our operations smoother and more efficient.
• Uninterrupted Power Supply: With the new system in place, power disruptions are a thing of the past. Outages have been eliminated and operational stability enhanced.
• Cost Savings: By utilizing solar energy, we reduce electricity costs, allowing us to of course reinvest in our mission but also further our investment in more sustainable initiatives.
• Environmental Impact: The shift to solar reduces our carbon footprint supporting our commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
From experience and research in project management, horizont3000 knows how important it is to build the capacity of all those involved in order to keep systems running effectively. This reflects the approach of Solar Pledge East Africa, which focuses on improving skills and knowledge rather than simply providing products.
Followingly, all staff of the Regional Office participated in training sessions on basic operation and maintenance of the solar system to equip our team with the necessary skills to manage the system efficiently for its optimal performance and longevity.
