Herbert is the new Head of Finance at horizont3000 in Vienna. With more than 20 years of experience in financial management, he is quite familiar with operational and strategic topics in accounting and controlling. In addition to a degree in Business Administration from WU Vienna he completed the international CEMS post graduate programme at Bocconi University, Italy. His professional career led him to horizont3000 via national and international companies in various industries and NPOs in the scientific and academic environment. He looks forward to working with the h3 team for a "Buen vivir for all".

How did you come across horizont3000?

After working for profit orientated companies for many years I was looking for a job with meaning. When I heard about the opportunity of working in the finance team of a company which strives for sustainable, collective development I didn’t hesitate to apply for this job at h3. The fact that h3 offers the opportunity to work part-time, even in management positions, was an additional big plus.

What are some learnings from the first weeks in your new job?

Working at h3 is on a very professional level. All finance transactions to regional offices and to project partners are carefully monitored and audited on a regular basis. Certain programmes concerning anti corruption measurements in the countries we go are in place.

How are you finding working in the NGO sector?

It is very exciting to learn how horizont3000 and other NGOs are addressing global poverty, to see which projects are launched in the sectors of human rights – civil society and sustainable livelihoods. Apart from this it is also very interesting to understand the financial structure behind.

What’s your favourite part of your working day?

I appreciate to work together with my friendly colleagues from the great h3 team. Furthermore, while I am just at the beginning I am looking forward to supporting h3 in financial issues and learning from past experiences.

Thank you and all the best, Herbert!
