Atanga Girls, the largest in the current SPEA program with 443 students, is located in a secluded area in Pader without access to the grid. The school operates entirely on solar PV, powering classrooms and boarding sections. However, the system cannot meet the school’s energy needs because it is old, and replacing some components has not been possible due to cost constraints.
443 students (172 boys and 271 girls)
Installation of 2 new Photovoltaic AC/DC systems [AC1.75kw] and DC OF 350w. The systems supports the boarding facilities, classroom and light up the compound and run the administration office.
Installation, replacement and training was completed in February 2026
Literacy levels in this area are set to improve, as the school offers education at an affordable rate to a community in need. With an upgraded solar system, we expect enhanced student performance and improved security, especially given the large grassy areas on the compound.
